Fundamental mechanistic investigations for sustainable organic synthesis by activating small molecule gases and inert C-H bonds with first-row metals

In this project we design new transititon metal catalyzed processes to engage small molecules such as CO2 or CO into catalytic cycles as a source of C1-synthons to build-up molecular complexity. The main interest of this research is focused in the mechanistic comprehension of these reactions at a molecular level in model systems, as a first step towards the longer term goal of developing synthetically valuable reactions.
